Does my cat have a health guarantee?
Yes, however your kitten should arrive healthy. All kittens/cats are veterinarian screened before shipping. Due to stress of shipping and the changing environments, your new kitten/cat may get a runny nose or eyes a few days after arrival. This should generally clear up on its own in a short time once adjusted. However, if for some unforeseen reason your kitten/cat should have a serious health issue upon arrival, Wichita Mountain Lynx will gladly replace your kitten/cat. We are not responsible for excessive veterinary expenses incurred once you get the cat unless there has been prior consultation in advance.
What are my shipping options?
We offer shipping to the continental U.S. and Canada. Primarily all shipping will be performed by a major airline carrier, preferably Continental Airlines.

In order to ship your new kitten or cat the temperature must be between 32 - 85 degrees Fahrenheit in the departure city (Oklahoma City), the destination city, and any city that the plane lands for connecting passengers/cargo.

It is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure we can ship the kitten or cat based on the constraints listed in this article. We do not refund deposits on kittens or cats when the buyer discovers, after the deposit has been made, that it is not possible to ship to the buyer's desired location.

The Desert Lynx breed group (Desert/Highland/Alpine Lynx) area speculated to have originated with crosses from Bobcats. Although they bear a physical resemblance to the Bobcat, their personalities area totally domestic.
Why are some cats polydactyl?
The polydactyl gene, which produces extra toes, is a dominant gene that is considered a desirable trait in these cats. Some are polydactyl while some will not be. When two polydactyl cats area bred together they will have offspring that may or not be polydactyl. Cats with regular feet will not carry on this gene.
What are some breed characteristics?
They are very intelligent and alert cats. They are strong and muscular cats that are medium in length and have longer hind legs. The toes may also be tufted. Males are larger than females and slower to mature. The head is large but not round, with a full well developed muzzle that is almost square in appearance, with prominent whisker pads. The tail may come half way to the ground, or it may be lacking entirely. Or it may come in any length in between.
How old do kittens have to be before shipping?
Typically, a kitten will be shipped at approximately 12 wks

Do they get along with other cats, animals, and children?
Yes, they get along with all other breeds of cats. They adjust easily to households with existing cats and will not intimidate smaller breeds. Yes, they get along with children as well. Yes, they will get along with and adjust to other animals such as dogs, reptiles, birds, and other types so long as these other animals are trained, adjusted to cats in the home, and do not exhibit high prey drive.
Do they require special diets?
No, they do not require a special diet. They will thrive on any high quality dry cat food. As with any breed, a high quality can food product may be added to their food or given as a treat. Also, dietary supplements or vitamins used for any other domestic breed may also be used for these Lynx cats.
What differentiates Desert Lynx and Highland Lynx?
Desert Lynx and Highland Lynx are essentially the same cats with different ears and colors. Desert Lynx have the straight ears while the Highland Lynx have the curled ears.
Due to the variable nature of weather, Wichita Mountains Lynx Cattery can make no guarantees as to the exact shipping date of a Lynx kitten or cat. We usually can ship on any date Monday through Friday on early morning flights, weather permitting. Weekend flights can be done, but must be planned well in advance due to increases in shipping costs.
We will also have all kittens and animals checked by a veterinarian within 10 days of shipping. A copy of the health certificate issued by the veterinarian will accompany the kitten or cat in flight. All kittens and cats are given appropriate vaccinations prior to shipping. This includes FVRCP, FeLV, and Rabies (if age permits).
